Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Textile Engineer is an integral member of the Mill Technical Design Department who will ensure our products are “Warranted to Be”.
Establish new product development and maintain existing fabric quality ranges, with an emphasis on quality assurance in a textile production mill.  The Mill Designer works cross-functionally with Design, Development, and Manufacturing teams as the lead technical expert within the PWM manufacturing facilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze fabric for fiber, yarn, weave and finishes.
  • Create and maintain fabric finishing routines for new fabrics as well as established fabrics.
  • Research and develop new technologies in mechanical and topical finishes, machinery, and process.
  • Supervise experimental and sample trials through the production facility in conjunction with departmental managers and supervisors.
  • Develop specifications for raw stock, wool blends, and purchased yarn direct quality and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Develop new fabrics for all business needs.
  • Assure specifications for fabric performance, including providing detailed analysis of results and any corrective actions on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Cost fabrics and finishing routines for all yarns and products, for each business division.
  • Analyze problems, determine root causes, and prepare corrective or preventive action reports when appropriate.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Textile Design, Textile Engineering, or Textile Chemistry/Science or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • 6 or more years of textile design experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Advanced mathematical skills with statistics and algebra.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and curious with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines, and easily adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create strong working relationships with all levels of employees across the organization as well as with customers, designers, and manufacturers.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, and Access programs.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Production Mill, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
