The Software Agile Project Manager is responsible for executing the plan to support product development activities including software application development, new product introductions, technology integration, and lifecycle product support. The position requires excellent technical and cross-functional product development knowledge coupled with superior communication skills, proficiency in Agile management systems, functional and program management experience and business planning expertise.


This position works closely with Connectivity leadership team and other functional leaders in the company to provide management for product development projects. This role is responsible for devising and effectively implementing product & software development project plans which ensure superior software applications and products for our customers, while also fostering and rewarding innovation and creativity within project management and all involved departments.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Job duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Work with Connectivity leadership team and other stakeholders to improve and refine the Hybrid development process within both agile and waterfall environments to continuously improve project outcomes and project delivery expectations.
    • Defines and directs the work of cross-functional project teams. Coaches and enables team to succeed at project execution. Sets clear expectations to inspire and engage the team. Works with functional management to provides input for performance-- recognizing achievement, providing feedback and supporting progressive improvement guidance when necessary.
    • Maintains all process documentation, project templates, training materials, etc. associated with the Hybrid development process. Ensures that documentation is stored with revision control in an accessible location to all who participate on development projects.
    • Lead projects in collaboration with software development, engineering, and product management for new product development via Hybridized Agile methodology. Ensure product development methodology utilized by the connectivity team remains complementary to the Generac Development Process (GDP).
    • Establishes and maintains metrics indicating the effectiveness of the development process relative to project delivery expectations. Owns all project ceremonies and report outs.
    • Identify, evaluate and document "lessons-learned" during the project and communicate best practices and lessons learned to project team members to implement into future projects via expectations established in the hybrid development process.
    • Develop and lead a Risk and Mitigation plan for projects. Define and lead contingency option assessment when needed, then select and execute recovery plans.
    • Ensure that connectivity development projects deliver to target release dates, specifications, project cost, and product cost for Generac and product life cycle cost for Customers.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of progressive work experience in product design/development including software development.
  • 5 years of project management experience working in both Agile and Waterfall development systems.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience using expertise level business systems for product design, manufacture and sales/distribution.
  • Experience building Agile and Waterfall project management principles to manage large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with cross-functional teams.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes.
  • Team building and leadership skills in working with others who are not direct reports.
  • Excellent communication skills.



Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
